This overseas trip, codenamed "Project Benevolence and Friendship," marked the first visit to diplomatic allies in Africa that President Ma has undertaken since assuming office. In addition to strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing mutual understanding, the trip also afforded the president an opportunity to see first-hand the successes that have been achieved in the many cooperation projects being carried out by the ROC and its diplomatic allies. In effect, it turned out to be an excellent way to survey the results of the president's policy of "viable diplomacy." |
