Secretary-General to the President

The Office of the President has a secretary-general to the president who takes general charge of the affairs of this Office, and directs and supervises its staff members.

Deputy Secretary-General to the President

Deputy secretary-generals to the president assist the secretary-general to the president.

First Bureau
  • promulgation of laws and decrees
  • appointment and removal of civil servants and military officers
  • handling of matters regarding the nomination of officials whose appointment requires the consent of the Legislative Yuan as stipulated by the Constitution
  • handling of matters pertaining to the five government branches (the five Yuan), the General Staff of the Ministry of National Defense, and the provincial/special municipality governments
  • translating and handling of correspondence and documents in foreign languages
  • reports on various domestic and foreign affairs
  • other related matters
Second Bureau
  • conferring of decorations and orders
  • safekeeping of seals
  • making and distribution of official seals, chops, and orders
  • registration, distribution and typing of official documents; and filing of minutes and official documents
  • handling of confidential telegraphic correspondence
  • planning and implementation of office automation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software
  • publication of the Gazette of the Office of the President
  • other related matters
Third Bureau
  • dealing with protocol and ceremonial affairs
  • maintenance of transportation equipment
  • handling of disbursements
  • responsible for overheads and managerial affairs
  • in charge of construction and procurement
  • other related matters
Department of Special Affairs
  • special matters related to the President and the Vice President
Department of Security Affairs
  • security related to the President and the Vice President
Department of Public Affairs
  • dissemination and explanation of major government policies
  • liaison with the media and news releases
  • collection and analysis of public opinions
  • handling of petitions from the general public
  • other related matters
Personnel Department
  • personnel management
Department of Accounting and Statistics
  • annual budgeting, accounting and statistics
Government Ethics Department
  • employee ethics
Legal Affairs Committee
  • handling of matters pertaining to the legal system.
Academia Sinica
  • Academia Sinica, Academia Historica, and the Management Commission of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Cemetery are under direct administrative supervision of the Office of the President.
