President Lee Teng-hui this morning meets with Mr. Erguey A. Filatov, senior adviser to Russian President Boris Yeltsin, and his two companions N.I. Shdanoff-Lutsenko and Anatoly Sobchak.
President Lee tells his guests that he is glad to see the fruits of the efforts in promotion of cooperation and improved relations between the Republic of China and the Republic of Russia.
During the meeting, President Lee also expresses his concern over President Yeltsin's health and asked Mr. Filatov to give his best regards to the Russian head of state.
Mr. Filatov, former secretary-general of the Russian Presidential Office in 1993, says that he and his companions have been deeply impressed by the ROC's economic development and its flourishing society, adding that his country wishes to enhance cooperation and exchanges with the ROC.
The three Russian visitors come to the Office of the President for the meeting in the company of Mr. Chao Tze-chi, President of the World League for Freedom and Democracy's ROC Chapter. Mr. Ding Mou-shih, Secretary- General of the ROC National Security Council, and Mr. Stephen S. F. Chen, Deputy Secretary-General to the President, are also present.
