President Ma Ying-jeou on the afternoon of June 11 at the Presidential Office met with International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) World President Luis Correa-Bahamon and the winners of the FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence 2008 Awards. President Ma extended a warm welcome to Mr. Correa-Bahamon on his visit to Taiwan and also expressed congratulations to the winners of the awards.

President Ma said that the International Real Estate Federation has made outstanding contributions in its nearly 60 years of existence. He said that FIABCI and the Real Estate Association of the Republic of China maintain close contact, with the two organizations both holding awards for excellence in construction. These awards provide enormous encouragement to many architects and construction firms, he said. He thanked the organizations for their efforts in this regard and also praised Mr. Correa-Bahamon for his work and contributions to the real estate sector.

Previously, Farglory Land Development Chairman Chao Teng-Hsiung suggested that the government establish a national land development agency that would be responsible for land development management throughout Taiwan. President Ma said that national land use planning is an extremely important matter and he recommended that related individuals be invited to a symposium to discuss land use-related matters and make appropriate suggestions.
