President Ma receives congratulations from foreign visitors attending 2015 National Day celebrations

President Ma Ying-jeou and Mrs. Ma were accompanied by Vice President Wu Den-yih and Mrs. Wu at the Presidential Office on the morning of October 10 to receive congratulations from foreign diplomats stationed in Taiwan and special visitors from throughout the world who had come to Taiwan to take part in the ROC's 2015 Double Tenth National Day celebrations.

Among the roughly 210 foreign guests in attendance at the event were Solomon Islands Governor General Frank Kabui and Mrs. Kabui; Vice President of Honduras Ricardo Antonio Alvarez Arias and Mrs. Alvarez; Vice President of Paraguay Juan Eudes Afara Maciel; Deputy Prime Minister of St. Christopher and Nevis Shawn Kenneth Richards; Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Swaziland Paul Dlamini and Mrs. Dlamini; President of Guatemalan Supreme Court of Justice Josue Felipe Baquiax and Mrs. Baquiax; and Minister for Education, Human Resource Development and Labour of St. Lucia Robert Lewis. The activity took place at the Presidential Office at 9:30 a.m. President and Mrs. Ma and Vice President and Mrs. Wu warmly shook hands with the visitors and thanked everyone for attending the event. President Ma was also accompanied by Secretary-General to the President Tseng Yung-chuan (曾永權) and Minister of Foreign Affairs David Y. L. Lin (林永樂).

In addition to Governor General Kabui and the other leaders or high-ranking officials from the ROC's diplomatic allies, many other foreign visitors were on hand to extend their congratulations, including US Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council Chief Secretary Keiji Furuya, and Korean National Assembly Member Cho Kyoung-Tae. Foreign diplomats in attendance included Nauru Ambassador to the ROC Ludwig Dowong Keke and Mrs. Keke. Others attending the event included European Economic and Trade Office Head Madeleine Majorenko, American Institute in Taiwan Taipei Office Director Kin Moy and Mrs. Moy, and British Office Taipei Representative Chris Wood, as well as other representatives of foreign organizations and groups stationed in Taiwan.
