Commenting on the violent attack that led to massive casualties in Nice, France on July 14, 2016, Presidential Office Spokesperson Huang Chung-yen (黃重諺) said that President Tsai Ing-wen, upon receiving the news, was both shocked and deeply saddened. She immediately asked National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) to reach out to French Office in Taipei Director Benoit Guidee by phone, to convey the solemn condolences of the Taiwan government and people to the victims and their families, and to condemn in the strongest possible terms this despicable act of violence against innocents.
