President Tsai congratulates French President-elect Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron
The French presidential elections concluded with Mr. Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frederic Macron becoming the new president-elect of France. On behalf of the government and people of Taiwan, President Tsai Ing-wen today (May 8) congratulated President-elect Macron and the people of France.
President Tsai recognizes that France enjoys one of the most deeply-rooted democratic traditions in the world, and reiterates that Taiwan shares with France the universal values of freedom, equality, fraternity, and human rights. She has every confidence that Mr. Macron's leadership will result in greater progress and welfare for the people of France, as well as the continued strengthening of Taiwan-France cooperation on all fronts to contribute to the betterment of not only our two countries, but also the international community at large.
