Office of the President's statement on mass shooting in Las Vegas

Presidential Office Spokesperson Lin He-ming (林鶴明) said on October 3 that President Tsai Ing-wen was quite concerned when she heard about the tragic mass shooting incident in Las Vegas, USA on October 1 (October 2 Taiwan time), which left dozens dead and hundreds injured. 

The president immediately instructed Secretary-General to the President Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) to contact American Institute in Taiwan Taipei Office Director Kin Moy to convey deepest sympathies on behalf of the president, and the people of Taiwan. President Tsai also condemned the violence, expressed sympathy for the innocent victims and their family members, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Spokesperson Lin stated that the president has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue monitoring the situation to determine whether any citizens of Taiwan have been affected, and actively provide any needed assistance to ensure the safety of citizens overseas.
