President Tsai noted that Ambassador Soto Jimenez previously held the esteemed position of minister of defense for the Dominican Republic, is very steadfast in his friendship for Taiwan, and has visited Taiwan twice in the past. She expressed her belief that with Ambassador Soto Jimenez's appointment to Taiwan, the two countries in the future would enjoy even broader cooperation and exchanges in the areas of politics, military, trade, and culture and that the bilateral relationship would continue to grow deeper.

She expressed hope that they could find a suitable time to visit Taiwan, to further enhance mutual understanding, and to strengthen mutual assistance and cooperation between the two nations.
