Presidential Office grateful for international community's concern and support following Taiwan earthquake

The Presidential Office expressed sincere thanks for the international community's support and concern after receiving condolences from governments around the world following an earthquake that caused considerable damage in Taiwan's Hualien County in the late night of February 6. 

Governments expressing condolences to date include the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Belize, Canada, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Poland, Saint Lucia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union. Pope Francis and Tibetan religious leader the Dalai Lama also reached out to convey their sympathies for the victims, and blessings for the people of Taiwan. Governments including the United States, Japan, and Singapore also expressed their willingness to provide all possible personnel and material assistance.
