Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) said that the Taiwan government welcomed the announcement by the United States government that it notified Congress on October 21 (US Eastern Standard time) regarding a new, three-part arms sale package for Taiwan. We also thanked the US government for continuing to take substantive action, based on the Taiwan Relations Act, to fulfill the security commitments in the Six Assurances and help Taiwan strengthen its self-defense capabilities, he said.

Spokesperson Chang stated that the defensive weapons provided by the US government will benefit Taiwan in establishing solid national defense capabilities and modernizing defensive combat capabilities, while upgrading asymmetric warfare capabilities, enhancing Taiwan's confidence and ability to uphold peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and our region.

Spokesperson Chang emphasized that even as we procure military hardware, our government will continue to remain dedicated to promoting our national self-defense capabilities and enhancing the quality and capabilities of our military personnel. Taiwan will also continue to deepen its cooperative partnerships with the United States and other like-minded countries around the world to jointly maintain peace, stability, prosperity, and development in the Indo-Pacific region, and resolutely defend Taiwan's democracy and freedom.
