President Tsai meets with the Lord Mayor of London, Lord Mountevans. President Tsai Ing-wen meets with the Lord Mayor of London, Lord Mountevans.
While meeting on the morning of July 11 with the Lord Mayor of London, Lord Mountevans, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed hope that Taiwan and the United Kingdom can create a mutually beneficial partnership by engaging in more financial, economic, and trade cooperation.

The president noted that she had just seen Lord Mountevans late this past June at the inauguration ceremony for the Panama Canal Expansion. Afterward, she proceeded to Paraguay for a state visit and made a transit stop in Los Angeles on her way back to Taiwan, thus marking a very successful conclusion to her first visit to Taiwan's diplomatic allies in Central and South America. The president said she was very happy to see Lord Mountevans once again and welcomed his visit to Taiwan as the head of the delegation.

Lord Mountevans told the president that this was not his first visit to Taiwan, as he had been here previously on business. He said he was planning to meet with Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊) in Kaohsiung the following day (July 12), and would be taking advantage of this trip to better understand the state of cooperation between Taiwan and the UK in the financial sector. President Tsai stated that Mayor Chen was undoubtedly looking forward to meeting with Lord Mountevans. The president also expressed hope that Taiwan and the UK can further deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges in the areas of investment, finance, and trade, and can together build a mutually beneficial partnership to create more win-win business opportunities. Afterward, President Tsai enjoyed a very pleasant chat with her guests about her experience studying in the UK in the early 1980s.
