Visitor rules

      The Presidential Office Building (hereafter referred to as "the Office") may be visited during either a full open house (selected weekends) or a partial open house (weekday mornings).

  • I. Full open house dates:
1. For more information on the open house schedule of the Office, please visit our website and check the "visitor information." No advance booking is required. Visitors should line up outside the visitor entrance to enter the building.
2. Open areas of the building: Main Entrance; Entrance Hall; Auditorium; Rainbow Room; South and north courtyards; 1st floor exhibit areas; the Office's Art Gallery.
  • II. Partial open house on weekdays:
1. Partial open house schedule: Working Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. (Visitors must arrive by 11:30 a.m. in order to be admitted.)
2. Maximum number of visitors: To preserve the integrity of this national historic site and to ensure high-quality tours, the maximum number of visitors for each day is set at 600 (200 visitors per hour.)
3. Application: Group tour of 15 visitors or more should make reservations 72 hours beforehand (not incl. day of reservation or any non-work days). Please make your reservations via fax or the Office's website.
4. Registration: The leader of a visiting group should submit a visitors' roster and register before touring the building. Individual tourists need to carry a photo ID and register to enter the building. Please line up outside the visitor entrance to enter the building.
5. Open areas of the building: 1st floor exhibit areas; this Office's Art Gallery.
6. Confirming a reservation: Please confirm your reservation on working Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m.
  • III. Special visits:
1. An organization or group holding an international event may submit a group visitor application to seek permission for event participants to visit the Presidential Office Building at a non-open house time. An application for a special visit must be submitted, in the form of an official document, by the applicant organization at least three weeks prior to the proposed visit date. Such a visit must be for the purpose of cultural exchange or academic research, and must not be profit-seeking in nature. The application is subject to review and approval by the Office. After an application has been approved, the Office reserves the right to cancel permission, if necessary, at any time prior to the day of the visit, or to arrange for an alternate visit date.
2. Open areas of the building: Please indicate in your application which areas you would like to visit. The Office will decide based on the application whether to permit visits to the requested areas. The Office reserves the right to subsequently change its permission if necessary.
  • Tourists must comply with the following requirements:
  1. Tourists are allowed to take photographs within open areas on the full open house dates, but from Monday to Friday may only take photos within designated areas. No video recorders, video cameras, luggage, or oversized packages are permitted inside the building at any time.
  2. When entering the building, tourists are required to show a photo ID and undergo a security check.
  3. When touring the building, please keep quiet. Do not loiter under any pretense or trespass into restricted areas. No signs, flags, or any dangerous objects are allowed. Office authorities will not accept any petition or appeal, and Office employees are not allowed to accept visits from tourists.
  4. When entering the Office building, please do not engage in any activity that has nothing to do with the purpose of your visit.
  5. Tourists may apply for permission to visit areas of the Office that are open to visitors during open house hours, but if there is reason to believe that the applicant (whether an individual or a group) intends to use the visit as a pretext for some other purpose—such as presenting a petition, making a complaint, or staging a protest—the Office may reject the application. If a tourist violates visitor rules after entering the building, the Office may ask the visitor to leave the premises immediately, or conduct necessary check and control measures in accordance with the Article 12 of the Special Service Act.
  6. Please dress appropriately, and carry as little as possible into the building. Pets, food, smoking, betel nuts, and chewing gum are prohibited inside the building.
  7. The scheduled open houses are subject to suspension if they coincide with a national holiday or Office employees are off due to a typhoon or some other natural disaster. The open houses may also be suspended in case of building renovation or construction, or major special events. The suspension and the specific reopening date will be made known to the public through the Office's website.
  8. The tour buses that transport group visitors can be parked briefly around the Office only for passenger drop-off or pick-up. After getting off and walking to the designated place, visitors in line are admitted. Meanwhile, the tour buses should park at the designated site after passengers get off.
