Vice President Chen's delegation arrives in the Dominican Republic

ROC Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Valentino Tang (湯繼仁) leads the embassy personnel to welcome Vice President and Mrs. Chen visiting the embassy. Vice President and Mrs. Chen shake hands with representatives of the expatriate community as well as ROC embassy personnel and their spouses, thanking them for waiting so patiently to welcome the delegation. Vice President Chen is accompanied by ROC Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Valentino Tang (湯繼仁) to have a brief chat with Dominican Republic Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Alejandra Victoria Liriano de la Cruz. Vice President and Mrs. Chen are welcomed at Las Americas International Airport in the Dominican Republic by ROC Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Valentino Tang (湯繼仁) and the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director of Protocol Pedro Gomez.

President Tsai apologizes to indigenous peoples on behalf of government

President Tsai issues an official apology to the indigenous peoples. President Tsai appears at the Main Entrance to receive the indigenous participants and lead them into the Presidential Office Building. A statement is issued by an indigenous leader, Mr. Capen Nganaen, a four-time township councilman and former county council member who lived under both Japanese rule and the ROC government, and who twenty years ago led the movement against storing nuclear waste on Orchid Island. President Tsai presents the full text of the apology statement to the indigenous peoples' representatives as a show of utmost sincerity toward the indigenous peoples, and to symbolize the government's determination to fulfill its promise to restore the rights they deserve.
