Meeting on the morning of May 23 with a delegation led by President Roberto Acevedo Quevedo of the Paraguayan Congress and Senate, President Tsai Ing-wen thanked the Paraguayan government for its longstanding support for Taiwan's international participation, and expressed hope for further enhancement of bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

On the morning of May 19, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a European Parliament delegation led by MEP Anna Fotyga, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In addition to thanking the European Parliament for its long-term support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations, the president stressed that Taiwan can be a reliable partner of the international community in many different areas, including public health, climate change, humanitarian aid, and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime.

On the evening of May 18, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the 2017 Europe Day Dinner held by the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan. In addition to expressing hope that the European Union (EU) will continue supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in the international community, the president also called for the signing of an investment agreement between Taiwan and the EU as soon as possible in order to enhance bilateral economic and trade relations.

On the morning of March 20, President Tsai Ing-wen met with President of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador Guillermo Antonio Gallegos Navarrete and Mrs. Gallegos. In addition to thanking El Salvador for strongly supporting Taiwan's international participation and speaking on Taiwan's behalf at international venues, President Tsai also expressed hope that the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly under the leadership of Mr. Gallegos will continue to support Taiwan.

On the morning of March 7, President Tsai Ing-wen welcomed Republic of Nauru President Baron Divavesi Waqa and Mrs. Waqa with full military honors. In addition to thanking Nauru for its longstanding support for Taiwan's quest to participate in international bodies, the president also expressed hope that the two countries will continue, in line with the spirit of "steadfast diplomacy and mutual assistance for mutual benefits," to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation as well as a lasting alliance.

On the evening of March 7 at the Presidential Office Building, President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President Chen Chien-jen hosted a state banquet for a visiting delegation led by Republic of Nauru President Baron Divavesi Waqa and Mrs. Waqa. At the banquet, President Tsai expressed hope that Taiwan and Nauru can act in line with the spirit of "mutual assistance for mutual benefits" to enhance cooperation and work together for a better future. President Waqa sang a song—Friends—in both Chinese and English to symbolize the firm and lasting friendship between the two countries.

On the morning of March 2, President Tsai Ing-wen received the credentials of Limasene Teatu, Tuvalu's new ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of China. During the ceremony, President Tsai expressed hope for continued enhancement of diplomatic ties between the two countries, and called for further cooperation and exchanges around developing green energy and responding to global warming.

During a meeting on the morning of February 23 with Mayor Nayib Bukele of San Salvador, the capital of the Republic of El Salvador, President Tsai Ing-wen said she hoped that the sister-city relationship between Taipei and San Salvador will enhance bilateral cooperation and exchanges so that people on both sides can reap the rewards of mutual assistance for mutual benefits. The president also asked Mayor Bukele to convey her best regards to Salvadoran President Salvador Sanchez Ceren, and expressed hope that she might have an opportunity to host President Sanchez someday in Taiwan.
