On the morning of May 30, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by US Senator Cory Gardner, Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In addition to thanking Chairman Gardner for his staunch support and assistance for Taiwan over a long period in the US Congress, the president also voiced hope that the US will continue to abide by the security commitments to Taiwan set out in the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances, so as to further enhance the strategic partnership between Taiwan and the US. She also expressed confidence that there are many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

Meeting on the afternoon of May 27 with members of the team dispatched by Taiwan to be in Geneva during the recent World Health Assembly (WHA), President Tsai Ing-wen praised the group—the WHA action team—for successfully enabling the world to understand the fact that Taiwan is capable of making substantive contributions to worldwide health and safety, and is an indispensable part of the global disease prevention network.

On the morning of May 19, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a European Parliament delegation led by MEP Anna Fotyga, Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In addition to thanking the European Parliament for its long-term support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations, the president stressed that Taiwan can be a reliable partner of the international community in many different areas, including public health, climate change, humanitarian aid, and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime.

On the evening of May 18, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the 2017 Europe Day Dinner held by the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan. In addition to expressing hope that the European Union (EU) will continue supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in the international community, the president also called for the signing of an investment agreement between Taiwan and the EU as soon as possible in order to enhance bilateral economic and trade relations.

In addition to thanking El Salvador for strongly supporting Taiwan's international participation and speaking on Taiwan's behalf at international venues, President Tsai also expressed hope that the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly under the leadership of Mr. Gallegos will continue to support Taiwan.
