On the morning of December 22, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Yang Chang-Soo, the new representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei. In addition to calling for the establishment of a fuller and more comprehensive mechanism for dialogue, President Tsai also expressed hope that the two sides can enhance economic and trade relations by signing an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income as soon as possible.

President Tsai Ing-wen met on the morning of December 15 with a group of foreign scholars and government officials who were in Taiwan to take part in the 6th ROC (Taiwan)-U.S.-Japan and Asia-Pacific Regional Partners Security Dialogue. In addition to warmly welcoming the visitors to Taiwan for the Security Dialogue, President Tsai also briefed them on Taiwan's promotion of its New Southbound Policy as a means of enhancing the diversity of its links with the countries of the ASEAN region and South Asia, and spoke about the government's proactive efforts to strengthen its partnerships with the United States, Japan, and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

President Tsai Ing-wen met on the morning of December 15 with former US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman. President Tsai warmly welcomed Ambassador Sherman on her first visit to Taiwan, and expressed hope for cooperation with the incoming US administration to achieve continued enhancement of Taiwan-US relations.

On the morning of December 1 at the Presidential Office Building, President Tsai Ing-wen received the credentials of the new Solomon Islands Ambassador to the ROC Joseph Pius Waleanisia. The president expressed hope for continued strengthening of cooperation and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

On the afternoon of November 24, President Tsai Ing-wen met with the delegation from Taiwan that attended the 2016 APEC Economic Leaders' Week. In addition to thanking Leader's Representative James Soong (宋楚瑜, Chairman of the People First Party) and the rest of the delegation for their hard work, the president also applauded them for fulfilling its appointed tasks.

On the afternoon of October 25, President Tsai Ing-wen received a delegation led by James Moriarty, the newly appointed chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). In addition to welcoming Chairman Moriarty to Taiwan, the president also expressed hope for continued enhancement of Taiwan-US exchanges and cooperation.

On the morning of October 19, President Tsai Ing-wen accepted the credentials of the new Belize Ambassador to the ROC Diane Haylock in a ceremony at the Presidential Office. The president warmly welcomed Ambassador Haylock to her new post in Taiwan and called for continued efforts to enhance cooperation and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

On the morning of September 22, 2016, President Tsai Ing-wen attended 2016 Annual Conference on Southeast Asian Studies in Taiwan. She explained the principles and strategies of the government’s New Southbound Policy, stressing that Taiwan will focus on building links with the nations of Southeast and South Asia.
