President Tsai Ing-wen and her accompanying delegation, who were in Central America on a trip codenamed the "Ing-Jie Project," arrived on January 8 (Sunday) at 4:15 p.m. local time (January 9, 6:15 a.m. Taipei time) at Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras.

President Tsai Ing-wen departed on January 7 (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m. Taipei time for Central America on a trip codenamed the "Ing-Jie Project." In remarks delivered over the aircraft's public address system, the president thanked colleagues at the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other related government agencies for their planning and preparations, and called on everyone in her accompanying delegation to work together to advance Taiwan's diplomacy.

On the morning of January 7, President Tsai Ing-wen departed on a nine-day, eight-night trip, codenamed the "Ing-Jie Project," to visit four diplomatic allies of Taiwan in Central America. Before boarding her plane, the president delivered remarks, stating that in addition to solidifying alliances and seizing on opportunities for Taiwan to take to the world stage, this trip is also intended to enhance bilateral cooperation with the countries being visited, and to show support for all those from Taiwan who are living and working overseas.

On the morning of December 22, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Yang Chang-Soo, the new representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei. In addition to calling for the establishment of a fuller and more comprehensive mechanism for dialogue, President Tsai also expressed hope that the two sides can enhance economic and trade relations by signing an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income as soon as possible.

President Tsai Ing-wen met on the morning of December 15 with a group of foreign scholars and government officials who were in Taiwan to take part in the 6th ROC (Taiwan)-U.S.-Japan and Asia-Pacific Regional Partners Security Dialogue. In addition to warmly welcoming the visitors to Taiwan for the Security Dialogue, President Tsai also briefed them on Taiwan's promotion of its New Southbound Policy as a means of enhancing the diversity of its links with the countries of the ASEAN region and South Asia, and spoke about the government's proactive efforts to strengthen its partnerships with the United States, Japan, and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

President Tsai Ing-wen met on the morning of December 15 with former US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman. President Tsai warmly welcomed Ambassador Sherman on her first visit to Taiwan, and expressed hope for cooperation with the incoming US administration to achieve continued enhancement of Taiwan-US relations.

On the morning of December 1 at the Presidential Office Building, President Tsai Ing-wen received the credentials of the new Solomon Islands Ambassador to the ROC Joseph Pius Waleanisia. The president expressed hope for continued strengthening of cooperation and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

On the afternoon of November 24, President Tsai Ing-wen met with the delegation from Taiwan that attended the 2016 APEC Economic Leaders' Week. In addition to thanking Leader's Representative James Soong (宋楚瑜, Chairman of the People First Party) and the rest of the delegation for their hard work, the president also applauded them for fulfilling its appointed tasks.
