Also present in the meeting is Mr. Stephen S.F. Chen, deputy secretary-general to the President.

Vice President Lien tells his guests that the two countries share the same aspirations of freedom, democracy and justice and have common goals for peace, security and prosperity. He also points out that the ROC is willing to share her world-acclaimed "Taiwan experience" with Senegal and other developing countries to help them in their economic development.

Meanwhile, the Vice President expresses his gratitude for Senegal's support for the ROC's bid to join the United Nations and other international organizations, adding that the ROC wishes to expand her presence in the international society and establish friendship with other peace-loving countries.

On his part, President Cissokho, in addition to conveying personal regards from Senegalese President Abdou Diouf, says that the government and people of Senegal greatly appreciate the ROC's assistance in helping their country's national development.
