President Lee Meets with President Fraser of Canada's Alberta University

President Lee Teng-hui this morning meets Dr. Roderick Fraser, president of Alberta University in Canada, and entends a warm welcome to him.

 

During the meeting, President Lee expresses his hope that the ROC and Canada could strengthen their exchanges in cultural and educational fields.

 

President Lee and President Fraser also exchange views on the national health insurance programs of the ROC and Canada. President Lee says that he hopes the ROC's program will eventually enable the people living in offshore islands and mountainous regions to have the same level of medical treatment as urban residents currently enjoy.

 

President Fraser is accompanied by ROC Vice Education Minister Yang Kuo-shih to the Office of the President for the meeting. Also present are Dr. Ding Mou-shih, secretary-general of the ROC National Security Council, and Mr. Stephen S.F. Chen, deputy secretary-general to the President.
