President Lee Teng-hui swore in Premier Vincent Siew and members of his cabinet in a ceremony this morning.
The ceremony took place at 10:00 at the Presidential Office. Members of the new cabinet include: John Chang, Vice Premier; Yeh Chin-fong, Interior Minister; Chiang Chung-ling, National Defense Minister; Paul Chiu, Finance Minister; Wu Jin, Education Minister; Liao Cheng-hao, Justice Minister; Wang Chih-kang, Economic Affairs Minister; Tsay Jaw-yang, Transportation and Communications Minister; Kao Koong-lian, Chairman, Mongolian & Tibetan Affairs Commission; James C.Y. Chu, Chairman, Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission; Shirley W.Y. Kuo, Chao Shou-po, Lin Fong-cheng, Huang Ta-chou, Yang Shih-chien, Chen Chien-min and Chan Hou-sheng, Ministers without Portfolio; Chang Yu-huei, Secretary-General, Executive Yuan; Yung Chaur-shin, Chairman, Research, Development and Evaluation Commission; Wei Chi-lin, Director-General, Central Personnel Administration; and Chan Chi-shean, Director-General, Department of Health.
Taking their oaths of office in front of the ROC national flag and the portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founding father of the republic, Premier Siew and other members of the Executive Yuan vowed to carry out the responsibilities and obligations of their respective duties to the utmost of their abilities.
