President Lee Meets with Saint Vincent Governor Antrobus

President Lee Teng-hui this morning met with Sir. Charles James Antrobus, governor general of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and exchanged views with him on issues of mutual concern.

President Lee noted that, besides the successful economic development in this country, the government of the Republic of China has made great efforts to carry out a series of constitutional, administrative, education, and judiciary reforms. Moreover, a spiritual reengineering campaign has also been launched in the hope of laying a solid foundation for the nations all-dimension development, added the President.

Meanwhile, President Lee pointed out that the ROC is very willing to share the Taiwan experience with Saint Vincent, and that both countries should continue to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperations for mutual benefit.

Deeply impressed by the prosperous and affluent society in Taiwan, Sir Antrobus highly admired the ROCs outstanding achievements, and appreciated very much the warm-hearted reception accorded him. He expressed the hope that bilateral ties can be further cemented based on the existing relations between the two countries. He also invited President Lee to visit Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at an opportune time.

Accompanied by ROC Vice Foreign Minister Chen Chien-jen, Sir Antrobus and his wife came to the Office of the President for the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Dr. Ding Mou-shih, secretary-general of the ROC National Security Council, and Dr. Su Chi, deputy secretary-general to the President.
