Taipei, Aug. 5 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian met Tuesday with a student team from the National Taiwan University (NTU) that won first place in an international computer software design competition.
The president hailed the student team's success at the Fourth Computer Society International Design Competition held by the United States Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) , saying they have given a good account of the excellence of Taiwan's education.
Noting that his administration is transforming Taiwan from a giant manufacturer of information products into a center for software development, the president said this endeavor relies on talented individuals such as the members of team from the NTU Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering.
The NTU team was selected by an international panel of experts as the number one project.
The software that the team developed deals with a platform for teacher-student interactions using wireless tablet PCs.
