Taipei, June 15 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian on Thursday received three military academy students who will soon leave for the United States to seek higher education at US military academies, sources from the Presidential Office said.
Chen met with Lee Wu-lin, Tan Tzu-wei, and Chang Chih-jung at the Presidential Office and congratulated them, all male students, for having passed a series of tests with high scores enabling them to receive more advanced military education abroad.
The president also gave high praise to the parents of the three students, saying they have provided their children with a successful education at home, helping the young men excel academically and physically.
The Ministry of National Defense, meanwhile, kept secret the names of the US military academies that the trio will attend in an effort to avoid causing any unnecessary troubles for them.
