Taipei, July 17 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu held a tea party on Monday in honor of women representatives from northern Taiwan and discussed women's issues with them.

Those attending the party included Council of Labor Affairs Chairwoman Chen Chu, the Executive Yuan's National Youth Commission Chairwoman Lin Fang-mei, representatives from the Interior Ministry's Social Affairs and from the Sex Crime Prevention and Damage Control Commission, and the directors of the Bureaus of Social Affairs in seven northern Taiwan counties and cities, as well as members of several major women's groups.

Lu said that promoting women's rights, career opportunities, and security is an important issue. She said she hopes that discussions at the tea party held at the President's Office will help lead to solutions for all sorts of problems faced by women in Taiwan.

Lu and those present at the tea party agreed that they will present their views and suggestions to the government on issues related to women's careers, security, and integrating the resources of women's groups in Taiwan.
