Taipei, July 26 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu led a group of entrepreneurs on a tour of a quake-affected area in central Taiwan's Taichung County on Wednesday.
Lu urged the entrepreneurs, who are also members of a national alliance for post-quake reconstruction, to increase their efforts in helping quake-affected victims following last year's disastrous September 21 earthquake, which left more than 2,400 dead and resulted in extensive property damage islandwide. Central Taiwan bore the brunt of the killer temblor.
She said quake relief had to meet the needs of the victims, noting that the survivors now need to move out of the prefabricated homes in which they have been living, which she said are not suitable for a long occupation.
She urged the entrepreneurs to pool their resources to build low-cost housing so as to help provide homes for quake victims unable to afford expensive houses.
