It was recently reported that President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Lu Hsiu-lien had planned to hold an impromptu press conference, during their inspection tour of the Military Police Command yesterday, to explain governmental authority while President Chen is abroad on his state visit to the Caribbean, Central America, and Africa, but later cancelled the plan. The Public Affairs Department of the Presidential Office stated that there was no such plan. In fact, the President and the Vice President visited the Military Police Command according to the original schedule, and no such press conference was arranged. Thus the report was incorrect.
