Vice President Lu Attends the Plenary Meeting of the Bar Association of the Republic of China

Taipei, Aug. 20 In a speech to the Bar Association of the Republic of China, Vice President Annette Lu expressed her hope that the promotion of judicial justice will be another pride in Taiwan at the threshold of the 21st century.

Lu expressed her sincere admiration to all the lawyers in this country for their contributions to successfully transforming Taiwan into a democracy.

In closing, Vice President pointed out that the government should revise the Constitution to adapt it to Taiwan's current political reality. Lu called the Constitution an out-of-date document and the reason for the current political chaos in Taiwan. In order to sort out the current difficulties, Lu suggested an overhaul of the Constitution to review the division of powers among five branches, the cornerstone of the current Constitution.
