Taipei, Sept. 8 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian urged the National Culture Association Monday to "inject some culture" into Taiwan society.
Chen, who doubles as chairman of the association, said at an association meeting that it should be a mechanism that coordinates the activities of the government and the private sector.
He touted the performance of the association in the past year, including its sponsorship of many cultural activities and art exhibitions around the island, saying it has evolved with the times.
Noting that a country cannot be great without culture, the president urged the association to enrich Taiwan's culture in step with the country's fast democratic development.
