Taipei, Oct. 6 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian decorated Frank Murkowski, the visiting governor of Alaska, with the Order of Propitious Clouds with Grand Cordon Monday.
Chen thanked Murkowski for his firm support for the Republic of China, in particular a resolution in support of Taiwan's membership of the World Health Organization in May adopted by Alaska's state senate and house of representatives.
Noting that it is the second time the governor has received the decoration, Chen said it is quite an unusual occurrence.
