Taipei, Oct. 10 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Annette Lu received 265 foreign guests and accepted their congratulations on the Republic of China's National Day Thursday at the Presidential Office.
The well-wishers included 65 members of congratulatory missions, 33 members of the diplomatic corps in Taipei, 67 representatives of other foreign missions in Taipei, 59 parliamentarians from various countries, and 35 foreign journalists invited by the Government Information Office.
Among them were President Alhaji Yahya Jammeh of Gambia, President Bakili Muluzi of Malawi, and Douglas H. Paal, Taipei Office Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan.
