Vice President Lu Is Named to Receive an Award from the U.S.-based Taiwanese-American Foundation

Taipei, Oct. 12 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu was named to receive an award from the U.S.-based Taiwanese-American Foundation Sunday for her contributions to Taiwan.

In a news conference held in Taipei, the foundation's founder, Kenjohn Wang, lauded Lu for her contributions to Taiwan's democracy, human rights protection, peace and diplomacy. "Lu has succeeded in bringing Taiwan to the world and bringing the world to Taiwan," Wang said.

The prize has been awarded to seven others before, including Former President Lee Teng-hui and Academia Sinica President Lee Yuan-tseh.
