Taipei, Oct. 23 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu received the head of DHL Worldwide Express Thursday at the Presidential Office and thanked him for the long-lasting support the multinational delivery service firm has extended to Taiwan.
During the meeting, Lu welcomed Uwe Doerken and expressed her appreciation for the support and donations from DHL for the organizers of the first Democratic Pacific Assembly held in Taipei Sept. 19-21.
She also extended views with him on DHL's operations and globalization.
In response, Doerken thanked the government for the support and assistance it has extended to foreign investors in Taiwan.
DHL is to establish a large-scale service center in Dayuan, near Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, and is willing to help Taiwan cultivate more talented individuals as a means of rewarding society, Doerken told his host.
Doerken was accompanied at the meeting by a group of DHL regional executives, including John Mullen, chief operations officer of DHL Asia-Pacific.
