At the Taiwan Ecotechnology Exhibition held in the MRT station in Tamsui, northern Taiwan, Chen, along with Taipei County Magistrate Su Tseng-chang, several high-ranking government officials, and representatives of domestic environmental protection groups, read a declaration as a promise to work for the continued preservation of Taiwan's beautiful mountains and rivers.
After visiting the ecotechnology exhibition, Chen also inspected the clean-up work of Tatun Creek, Sanchih, northern Taiwan.
Chen said he has designated Lee Yuan-tseh, president of Academia Sinica, the most prestigious academic institute in Taiwan, as the convener of a consulting commission for the preservation and development of the land of the country, focusing on ecotechnology.
