Taipei, Dec. 5 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian received visiting Japanese parliamentarian Tokuichiro Tamazawa Friday at the Presidential Office and thanked him for his long-term support for Taiwan.
During the meeting, Chen also asked his guest to convey his congratulations and regards to Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for the victory the ruling Liberal Democratic Party won recently in parliamentary elections.
At the same time, Chen asked Tamazawa to help him arrange another meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori.
Chen expressed the hope that Mori will visit Taiwan as soon as possible.
On hand at the meeting were also Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Chiou Yi-jen, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Hwang and Fang Jen-hui, an advisor to the president.
