Taipei, July 7 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian exhorted young people Monday to have dreams and to make them come true through diligence and action.
Chen made the remarks while meeting with a group of outstanding students who will soon leave for the United States to participate in the 2003 World Leadership Congress to be held in Washington, D.C. later this month.
The president congratulated the young delegates for their selection to attend the annual conference. "It's a great honor for you and a recognition of your performance," he told his young guests.
He encouraged them to have "wild" dreams and to grasp every opportunity to make them come true with perseverance and action. "In the pursuit of your dreams, don't be daunted by any setback or obstacle," he added.
Chen also asked the delegates to take advantage of the event to introduce Taiwan's history, culture and natural beauty, as well as its hospitable and peace-loving people, to the other participants from other countries. "During the conference, you should make every possible effort to help other conference delegates come to a better understanding of various aspects of Taiwan and its national cause," Chen said.
