Taipei, Feb. 12 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu and her Paraguayan counterpart Alberto Castiglioni signed a joint statement Thursday pledging to further promote relations between the two countries.
In the joint statement, Lu and Castiglioni reiterated that both the people and governments of the Republic of China and Paraguay will continue to work for the development, peace and security of the world.
The two countries will also continue to heighten bilateral ties and mutual understanding by promoting cooperation in the economic, financial, technological and international fields.
The ROC government will do its best to organize a trade and investment mission to visit Paraguay in the near future, while the Paraguayan government will take measures and offer incentives to facilitate Taiwan investment in the South American nation.
The ROC government also thanked Paraguay for the support and assistance it has extended to Taiwan in the international arena, including Taiwan's bid to join the United Nations and other international organizations.
