Vice President Lu Entertains the Envoys of Taiwan's Allies Stationed in Taipei
2004-07-14

Taipei, July 14 (CNA) Vice President Annette Lu proposed Wednesday that Taiwan and its allies establish joint venture agricultural and fishery farms.

Lu made the proposal at an informal gathering at the Presidential Office to entertain envoys of Taiwan's allies stationed in Taipei.

Making note of her recent visit to the Republic of China's Central American allies, Lu said that the ROC government would be able to recruit experts from the government and private sectors to form a consultative group to help Taiwan's technical missions stationed in its allies create a bridge to jointly establish a company that would coordinate the creation of agricultural and fishery farms.

The ROC government could also provide financial assistance and loans to the enterprise while encouraging domestic companies to make investments in the project.

The new company would cooperate with the host countries either through the government or via the private sector by providing expertise in production, research and development and marketing, Lu explained, adding that the host countries would provide the joint venture farms with manpower and land.
