Taipei, March 23 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian said Wednesday that he will encourage Taiwan businessmen to invest in Swaziland.
Chen made the remarks when he received new Swaziland Ambassador Njabuliso Busisiwe Gwebu, who came to the Presidential Office to present her credentials.
The president said that Swaziland, in a superb geographic location in Africa and with stable politics and good social order, is an ideal place for investors. He said he will encourage Taiwan businessmen to invest in the southern African country so as to promote employment and assist in the nation's economic development.
Chen also said Taiwan is willing to contribute to Swaziland's program to fight AIDS.
He noted that the countries have enjoyed diplomatic relations for 37 years and that the two sides maintain close and friendly relations.
He expressed appreciation for Swaziland's assistance in Taiwan's bid to join the World Trade Organization, as well as its speaking up for Taiwan's bid to join other international organizations and its support for Taiwan's bid to become an observer in the World Health Assembly, the policy-making organ of the World Health Organization.
