President Chen Attends a Tea Leaves Promotional Activity
2003-06-01

Nan Tou, Central Taiwan, June 1 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian Sunday encouraged all citizens to often wash their hands and take their own temperatures every day so as to help control severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Taiwan.

Speaking at a tea leaves promotional activity sponsored by the Nan Tou County government, Chen wanted all citizens to support a government campaign, which encourages people to take their body temperatures daily for 10 consecutive days. The campaign began Sunday.

Chen said transmission of SARS can be prevented, if all citizens often wash their hands and ask for medical treatment as soon as their temperatures are found too high. To achieve the goal, they have to take their temperatures everyday.
