President Chen Makes a Stopover in Anchorage, Alaska.
President Chen Shui-bian's trip of "hand in hand moving toward co-prosperity" made a stopover in Anchorage, Alaska, on September 20, and stayed for about 14 hours before heading toward Miami, where the president is scheduled to stay overnight.

The trip of President Chen to Miami has been delayed due to Hurricane Rita, and the two-hour stay in Anchorage, Alaska, was extended to 14 hours. The president received warm welcome from Robert Chen, director of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, and from the U.S. government when arriving at the Anchorage International Airport.

Accompanied by the officials of the Alaska state government, the president visited the Portage Glacier and received a briefing on the Glacier at the tourist center.

President Chen also accepted a luncheon hosted by Governor Frank Murkowski of Alaska, who welcomed the Taiwanese president and his delegation for their stopover in the state.
