The First Couple and the Vice President extended their New Year wishes to the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) with a new array of electronic cards.
One of the 2006 e-cards features the President pushing the wheelchair of the First Lady Wu Shu-jen, with both looking toward the same direction with a simple smile. The e-card presents the very ordinary life of the first family. Having married for 30 years, President Chen and the First Lady have stayed true to each other, even during the President's years as a political prisoner and after the car accident that handicapped the First Lady. A card note reading "May happiness be with you as the spring comes and may your dreams come true in the New Year" shows the best wishes from the President and the First Lady to all the people of Taiwan.
Vice President Annette Lu's e-card features a woodcraft work of Kuan Shi Yin Bodhisattva by Mr. Chen Cheng-hsiung in 1996, showing the Vice President's compassion and love for the world and for the people. The well wishing words of "peace and prosperity" in the e-card tell the Vice President's hopes and blessings to everyone in the country.
Visitors are welcome to log on to the homepage of the Office of the President (http://www.president.gov.tw/) to view the complete series of e-cards from the first couple and the Vice President, and use the e-cards to greet friends and families to express their best wishes to the New Year.
