President Chen and Vice President Lu Worship National Martyrs

On the morning of March 29, Youth Day, President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Annette Lu attended a ceremony to worship the martyrs who died in the 1911 Chinese Revolution and those who had sacrificed for the supreme cause.

Those who attended the ceremony included other government heads, such as the premier of the Executive Yuan, the speaker of the Legislative Yuan, and the presidents of the Judicial Yuan and the Examination Yuan, and many political representatives.

Accompanied to the venue by his Secretary-General Mark Chen, the president worshiped those young and noble souls with incense sticks and flower bouquets. To conclude the ceremony, all the attendants bowed to the main spirit tablet of the deceased heroes and presented them a solemn national salute, expressing their deepest mourning to the noblest.

The ceremony took place at the Martyrs' Shrine, located in Yuanshan, Taipei City.
