Vice President Lu Receives Medal of Honor from Central American Parliament.
Vice President Annette Lu was bestowed a "Condecoracion Parlamento Centro Americano, Francisco Morazan" by the Central American Parliament at the Office of the President on April 4.

Julio Palacios Sambrano, president of the Central American Parliament, presented Vice President Lu with the medal, which is dedicated to honoring those who are devoted to regional integration, intra-regional development, and championing democracy.

Palacios praised the vice president as Central America's strongest ally. "Vice President Annette Lu endeavors to promote social justice, to eradicate gender inequity, and to promote political movements that have far-reaching significance," said Palacios. "In her, we have seen humanity, rationality, and compassion."

To reciprocate the honor, the vice president extended her gratitude and recognized President Palacios for his contribution to democracy, peace and prosperity in Central America.

"Our friendship is so profound that it crosses the sea," said the vice president.  She wished the seeds of "democracy, peace, and prosperity" to bloom on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.

The other attendees of the ceremony included Mrs. Sindy Smith de Palacios, Central American Parliament Vice Presidents Leopoldo Navarro, Nelson Licona, and Julio César Grijalva, Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyne, and Vice Foreign Minister Francisco L. Y. Hwang.
