The Department of Public Affairs under the Office of the President announced that starting this month military salutes for state guests will be conducted at the plaza in front of the Presidential Office.
The change in venue reflects three important considerations: one, receiving foreign leaders at the head-of-state's office is a customary practice observed internationally in many other countries; two, welcoming state guests with military salutes at the Office of the President is of the highest honor; and three, the new location is convenient for holding follow-up meetings.
On rainy days, the ceremonies will be conducted inside the presidential building.
Furthermore, arrangements will be made for the public to observe the ceremony.
The military honors for state guests were formerly held at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
