The Office of the President expressed its deepest regret, on April 11, for the Legislative Yuan's rejection of the presidential appointment of Hsieh Wen-ding for state public prosecutor-general.
According to the Department of Public Affairs of the Office of the President, the Presidential Office exchanged views with parliamentary leaders in regards to the nomination and together considered Hsieh the best nominee. Therefore, the Legislature's disapproval of Hsieh's appointment reveals the irrationality and politically charged motives behind the legislative reviewing process.
As a result, the Office of the President has again called on all political parties to be just and impartial for the sake of all Taiwanese people.
