President Chen Meets with Marshall Islands President Kessai H. Note.
"Your country [the Marshall Islands] has voiced its support for Taiwan at both the United Nations Assembly and the World Health Assembly.  I am confident that under your leadership your country will continue to assist the Republic of China (Taiwan)," said President Chen Shui-bian to Marshall Islands President Kessai H. Note in their meeting at the Office of the President on April 11.

The meeting took place immediately after President Chen welcomed President Note's arrival with a military salute in front of the Office of the President.

In reciprocating President Chen's hospitality, President Note thanked President Chen for inviting him to Taiwan again and for providing assistance to the people of the Marshall Islands.  President Note also strongly reassured President Chen that the Marshall Islands would continue to fully support Taiwan's participation in international affairs.

Other guests attending the meeting included the Marshall Islands Foreign Minister Gerald Zackios and Mrs. Zackios, Senator Alik Alik and Mrs. Alik, Banking Commissioner Ann Marie Muller, and Presidential Assistant Christopher deBrum. Taiwan's Secretary-General to the President Mark Chen also attended the meeting.
