President Chen Meets with ICOI Chairman
2006-04-21

President Chen Shui-bian received Chairman Kenneth Judy of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) on April 21, extending welcome to his guest and calling for ICOI's support regarding Taiwan's bid to participate in the World Health Assembly.

The president first thanked the chairman for assisting Taiwan in outbidding Shanghai to host the ICOI's 2006 annual meeting, which is expected to gather over 1,000 dental professionals from as many as 80 countries. The president also wished the convention a great success.

"Health and disease know no national boundaries," the president emphasized to his guest, hoping the ICOI can support Taiwan's bid to become an observer in the World Health Assembly in order to prevent Taiwan from becoming a loophole in global disease prevention.

To conclude the meeting, the president reassured his guest that Taiwan hopes to be a responsible health donor in the international community and help the needy countries.

Chairman Kenneth Judy's visit to the Office of the President was accompanied by Deputy Health Minister Chen Shi-chung, and Deputy Presidential Secretary-General Chuo Jung-tai was also present during the meeting.
