Reiterating the significance of strengthening bilateral relations with Taiwan's Central and South American allies, Vice President Annette Lu attended a presentation soliciting Taiwanese investment in El Salvador's Taiwan Park.
The development of the Taiwan Park in El Salvador is part of an initiative dedicated to assisting the economies of Central and South American allies. According to the agreement between Taiwan and El Salvador, the El Salvadoran government appropriated 114 hectares of land in the Comalapa area for the Central American country's Taiwan Park.
During her remarks at the presentation, the vice president said that the Taiwan Park in El Salvador is a comprehensive and versatile science and industrial park. She added that the government is also considering establishing a cultural and agricultural zone within the park as well.
Vice President Lu said that she hoped the development of the Taiwan Park in El Salvador will give Taiwanese businesses more investment opportunities in Central and South America, not just China.
The vice president also talked about the Democratic Pacific Union's (DPU) regional conference in Seoul this June and its symposium on avian flu prevention in Indonesia this July.
"The Taiwan Park in El Salvador," the vice president emphasized, "is an exemplary juxtaposition of Taiwan's traditional businesses and modern high-tech industries."
El Salvador's Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan) Francisco Ricardo Santana Berrios and Investment Executive Patricia Figueroa also spoke at the presentation.
