Vice President Lu Meets with Participants of Natural Disaster Prevention and Rescue Seminar.
On May 11, at the Office of the President, Vice President Annette Lu met with the participants of the International Seminar on Natural Disaster Prevention and Rescue, and extended to them her warmest welcome.

The vice president told her guests that Taiwan has learned invaluable experience from the past in disaster prevention and reduction. Therefore, she said, through this international seminar as a platform for information exchange, she hoped her guests could bring Taiwan's experience back to their countries. "Disaster prevention is more important than rescue work," said the vice president.

The International Seminar on Natural Disaster Prevention and Rescue is one of the programs under the Democratic Pacific Union, an organization directed by the vice president. Under the Democratic Pacific Union, the Pacific Center for Disaster Prevention was established to help reduce the impacts of typhoons and floods in the Pacific region.
